In the Alekseevskaya Sloboda of the Belgorod province, where in the late 20s of the 19th century, oil was obtained from sunflower seeds for the first time in the Russian Empire and the first oil mill in Russia was built. Almost 200 years later Alekseevka remains the largest sunflower processing center in the country.
